I live in Houston (house) and rent in San Antonio for work. Can I deduct mileage or rent from my income taxes?

My understanding is that you can not deduct commute to work from income tax. I do believe you might be able to deduct moving expenses.

Nope. You choose to live in Houston and work in San Antonio, so that is ALL considered normal commute.
