About chances of getting San Antonio for my first border patrol station

Chances of getting San Antonio for my first border patrol station?
I am applying for border patrol and need to be able to work in San Antonio due to my spouses job. What are my chances?

First you need to get interviewed. Then you need to go to their academy, then you need to be a resident of the County San Antone is in. If you are just now applying, doesn't mean you are hired. You probably would be in El Paso.

The Patrol will send you base on the needs of the service. When you apply, you are able to indicate what state(s) you wish to work. Keep in mind on the announcement in will need to say Texas. After going through the pre-employment process, they will offer your a station based on your preference and the needs of the Patrol. San Antonio is in the Laredo Sector. Odds are you will probably NOT get San Antonio as most new agents are directly on the border, but you may get a station near by such as Uvalde, Rocksprings, Freer. I realize those aren't close as you like, but those are closest you're going to get. 3-5 Years you may be able to VRP out to San Antonio.

yeah i am not too sure but the other answer sounds like she knows the process...shes right though just because your applying does not mean you will be hired...there is an extensive background investigation...they will probly contact former teachers...other family members...local PD... FYI San Antonio is in Bexar county....and yeah EP is probly where you will start out...or Brownsville....but who knows you could get lucky...but IF you get the job you will be a rookie and need to put in your time before you get the more preferred assignments... good luck

they assign you where they need you and not where you want to go. -------------retired texas deputy sheriff------------
