You don't have to have a work permit. You are allowed to work a limited number of hours as early as age 14 in Texas. The hard part will be finding a job at your age. Some groceries will hire baggers - that's about it. It is difficult to get a job until you turn 18 due to liability laws.

I agree with the other poster. It may be easier to find a job in the summer time, as the restrictions on hours you can work are relaxed. I know that Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels hires 15 year olds (or at least they did 5 years ago).

Your best bet may be to just start your own landscaping service. Print up some business cards and fliers and start soliciting your services to build clientel. Your initial capital needed to start your buisness is small and as you build your business you can invest more as needed.

Ok, I turned 14 a couple of months ago, so I am now old enough to start working in San Antonio. The thing is, Im only old enough to start working some places, as Im still to young to work at most others. Where should I start looking, like what jobs would I be able to do? Tips, advice, resources? Thanks.

in the US under FLSA a minor 14 or older may work in an: Office, Grocery store, Retail store, Restaurant, Movie Theater, Baseball Park, Amusement park, or Gasoline service station BUT due to the high the unemployment rate at this time it is very difficult for minors to get a job.........the jobs that use to be held by teens and retirees are now being taken by adults trying to support their families......... Businesses such as Publix, Kroger's, Food Lion, Sonic, Chic-Fill-A, McDonald's, Winn-Dixie, Krystal's, Dairy Queen, and Burger King along with smaller local businesses that are in the same genre tend to hire those your age. Fast-food and grocery stores are willing and able to train new employees but........................ Minors tend to have many issues that affect their ability to work such as tardiness, absenteeism, and numerous schedule requests, poor work-ethic etcetera. I am NOT implying you will have those issues but the fact that many your age do makes it more difficult for you to get an opportunity to prove your worth. Because of this you must be able to show through words and actions that you are reliable, dependable, punctual, detail oriented, coach-able, punctual, mature and team oriented. You will also need great references since you don't have work experience. Talk to teachers, counselors, clergy, coaches, club sponsors, and directors of places you have volunteered or people you have done casual labor for and ask them about giving you a reference. Get accurate, current contact information for them and ask them to be ready to get calls for references from potential employers. Remember: Most businesses are individually owned and operated so it is the owner’s policy and past experience with minors that will determine if they will hire you. Hey, any Lawyer can help, I see you can spell, I see no problem in getting a lawyer, lawyers work with handicapped people all the time....look in the yellow pages under lawyers... and go see him or her, I would try and find a female lawyer though, they tend to have more patience with people....

I'm not rich, so I'm thinking about getting the cheapest one. But the description on the site about what the difference is is very vague. I don't understand how they work. At Universal Studios, you stood and waited in a separate line if you had the card. How can you wait as long as everyone else but not be in line? I'm confused @w@;

I don't know much about that pass but I think it's the same as MM (which I do know about). You do go in a seperate line (this line usually has very few people in it. So you'll obviously get to the front super fast) and when you get to the front of the gate they let you out first, then the other people.

Its a card that basically lets you cut in line. When you're waiting in line, there's two seperate lines: One for people without the flash pass and one for people with the flass pass. The flash pass lines is usually empty so if you have the flash pass just take that line and it takes you to the front of the line pretty quickly.
